Children may not always recognize or explain that they are having trouble hearing or seeing. Age-appropriate hearing and vision screening can help identify concerns that deserve a closer look. Palmdale Pediatric Center offers screening as part of pediatric care when appropriate for the child’s age and visit needs.
The care team may ask about school performance, speech, headaches, squinting, volume preferences, or other observations from home. Screening is not the same as a complete specialist evaluation. If a result or concern suggests that more assessment is needed, the clinician can discuss follow-up and specialist referrals.
Parents are encouraged to mention changes they have noticed, even when a child has not complained. Bringing school screening results or prior records can also provide helpful context. The goal is to make the next step understandable and connect families with additional care when appropriate.
To make the visit useful, write down questions and any changes you have noticed. Bring current records and medicines when they relate to the concern. The care team will listen, explain what the visit can address, and help your family understand an appropriate next step.
